Notes From Our President

The 2017 Peanut Partner is the Mobile Outreach Meals Program of the Salvation Army! This program provides one well balanced meal and quality programs each day of the summer to an ethnically diverse group of children in our area. Thanks to the Grants Committee for their hard work – there were 6 great candidates.

The Destination Playground has been constructed – thanks to a lot of hard working volunteers in the community! Special thanks to all the Kiwanis members who helped out during our designated shifts. What a wonderful project!

Starting June 1, we will be soliciting nominations for the “Touch A Life” award. Nomination forms will be available at the noon meetings. This award goes to someone who has an outstanding record of volunteer service to our community.

The Kiwanis Educational Foundation, Inc has awarded the 2017 Kiwanis Scholarship of $865 to Cailey Titrud. This was presented to her at the Willmar High School Awards Ceremony.

The Grants Committee approved a $250 donation to help sponsor the “Hands On” art demonstration tent for youth at Celebrate Coffee-Celebrate Art Festival in September.

Thanks to everyone who brought a guest to our Membership Day on May 23. We had a great turnout! A suggestion was to have this event more often – what does everyone think?

A couple of announcements: Board Meetings have been changed to the 2nd Thursday of the month at the Historical Society. Next meeting is June 8th at noon. The Kiwanis Stingers Game is June 13th – this is a great time to socialize with other Kiwanis members.

Looking forward to another of my favorite months – JUNE!

In June as many as a dozen species may burst their buds on a single day. No man can heed all of these anniversaries; no man can ignore all of them. Aldo Leopold
