Notes From Our President

August 1st is PEANUT KICKOFF!  We will have our “Peanut Partner” speaking, peanut lists will be handed out and peanut songs will be practiced.  Don’t miss this meeting! Our partner this year is the Salvation Army “Mobile Outreach Meals”. I look forward to hearing about this project. Thanks again to the Grants Committee for all their work selecting the winner.

The programs for the rest of August also look interesting.  We will have a “Bring a Guest” Day on the 15th.  This worked so well in May that the Membership Committee decided to have one each quarter.  Be sure to ask someone to come as your guest  – hopefully a prospective member.  The club will be picking up the cost for guest meals.  On August 22nd we will have Committee Meetings.  This will be a good time for committees to touch base as we have not had these for quite a while.

Other things to look forward to are Key Clubs starting up in September, budgeting and getting ready for our new year starting in October.  It just seems like yesterday that we were organizing our Key Club Chartering Banquet which was held last October.

The deadline to submit a “Touch A Life” nomination is September 1st.  We will then proceed to select our winner for this year.  There is still plenty of time to get your nominations turned in.

We are saddened at the loss of a former member, Ron Schneider, whose funeral was held August 27th.  The interclub meeting planned for that date was moved to August 10th.

Thanks to everyone who has been reading at the Growmobile so far this summer – Earl, Dennis, Stefanie and Alana.  There is still time to sign up for the final weeks.

Summer is winding down and we are looking ahead to fall, also one of my favorite seasons.  Look forward to seeing you at the weekly club meetings.  Time to get out there and sell peanuts!

“When summer opens, I see how fast it matures, and fear it will be short; but after the heats of July and August, I am reconciled, like one who has had his swing, to the cool of autumn.”  Ralph Waldo Emerson, American essayist and scholar
